22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,
The photograph is of my right eye the day after surgery to reconnect and repair my retnia. Don't worry I didn't get into a fight or accident. The retnia had detached due to age.
That said my experience with this has taught me some spiritual lessons, the first is how blind one can be without realy knowing it
The retnia had pulled away while I was out mowing, I had see a jagged vertical line and it felt as if somthing had gotten into my eye. About a week later a dark spot began to form in my peripheral vision and continued to get bigger, so I went to the optometrist hoping it was nothing more than removing a foreign object. It was amazing just how blind I was in that dark spot, it was absolute blindness and it was bigger than I thought. Had I decided to not get help the eye surgeon assured me I would have gone completly blind in that eye.
Here is the spiritual lesson that God taught me, it takes very little corruption in our spiritual sight to led to complete darkness. My loss of sight began with small tears that eventually gave way to a larger tear and speration. This can also happen in our relationship with our Lord, "lets skip worship today"," I don't have time to pray", "I'll do devotion later", you get the idea, just a little tear in our relationship, but the the world creeps in and rips your vision away leaving you in the dark.
Lesson two; singleness in purpose leads to restoration
Once the problem had been found I submitted to the experts and within 24 hours had begun the restoration process. It is not easy , in fact it has been painfull and I am missreable. It is affecting my income, my other relationships and has had impact on my employer. But God is good and I know in the long run it will all turn out for His Glory.
That is the singleness of purpose that will fill our lives with His light; His Glory. Therefore, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
May God Bless you and keep you tell we meet in His arms.
P.S. Part of my recover is to keep my face parallel to the ground. Isn't that the position of submission? Recovery from the world's vices requires submission to our Lord and Saviour. Lesson 3.
