The above passage is so true about so many things. Of course all of those things qualify as sin, take pride for example.
Pride is such a henious sin. It takes so many forms. Few people realy try to search it out and eliminate it from their life. Pride says, "I am the best or the worst at ...........". Pride doesnt care about others and their feelings, pride is always right. Pride is the worst sin in the humman condition and cauaes more war both in a personal and in an international sense, as well as any other sense in between.
There is a healthy kind of pride. Its that good feeling one gets when another praises you for a job well done. Or the awesome feelings you experience when your group is awarded for their exceptional work. I realy think we need another word for this kind of pride since it is so easily confused with the sin of pride
CS Lewis reminds us that the real difference is when a person finds it in himself to compete not because he can but because he must, he must be the richest on the block and if anyone else becomes even one cent richer he will die to become a thousand times richer, not because he needs the wealth but because he needs the title.
While that kind of pride is easy to spot, false humility is not as easy. Pride as expesed in false humility says I am the worst, most dispicable, humman on the planet. It may even be a true statement, but it is not humble.
I have heard humility as being "right sized". A truly humble person knows his or her talents and limitations and is not concerned with being right, or the best, or the worst, but just being "the best me I can be, and thats all right".
As CS Lewis says you would not neccisairly recognize a truly humble person until after the encounter. They are the people who are truly enjoying life, they do not judge you for not thinking like them, they are peacful, not much riels them. You will enjoy their company and not even know why.
I hope someday I may be like this, it is what I desire but never seem to be able to reach.
I apoligize to anyone who may be waiting for the release of my next book. I have not made it available yet as I am still editing it. I am shooting for the end of this month.
Thank you and may the God of Abraham, Jacob, Isreal and me bless and keep you in and through His Christ, Jesus of Nazareth. Amen
