Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
I had listened to a man by the name of Rick Joyner last night as he spoke about the Four Purposes of Man. Wow, is about all I can say! This man really helped God to open my eyes to something I have know for a long time but needed a fresh perspective on. Sometimes after we have learned something we begin to take that knowledge for granted, then the Holy Spirit will tap us upside the head and say "hey, did you forget or what?". Yep, the day to day stuff clouded my heart and I forgot, or put on the back burner, a very important concept that changes the meaning and motivation of my life.
I had forgot that Jehovah, the God of the Universe had created you and me for a purpose. He didn't act in a random, purposeless way, when He created us. He had Purpose and when we align our purpose with His, life becomes full of meaning and Joy.
Put another way, when we get on the same wavelength as God we experience the things God has promised us.
Okay, so here are the four purposes that Mr. Joyner outlined:
1. God's pleasure - fellowship with Him
2. To work - Take care of the Garden
3. Be fruitful and multiply
4. Dominion over the creation.
You will have to go and listen to Rick Joyner for the full teaching on this because today I want to focus on one of these purposes, number 2, to work, to take care of His garden. This has become a bit of a problem area for me because I am getting near retirement age and have felt some what entitled to a retirement when it is becoming increasingly clear that to cease driving truck for a living is just not in the cards for me unless God decides to employee me elsewhere doing something else. And that, my friends is where my faith has been at it's weakest.
God knows what I am capable of, God knows where He needs me in this grand scheme called life. It is for me to be in fellowship with Him much like I am with my boss at work, check in, get my assignment for the day, clear up any details that may need clarifying, get what I need to get the job done, then go and do it. Pretty simple really, but where I get bogged down is I forget that ultimately it is God I work for, not me, not my wife, not my employer, but God.
When I am able to get and keep this attitude amazingly my work brings me a sense of fulfillment and joy.
Of course the other purposes all work together to fulfill each other, so the goal is to stay in all four all day every day.
Thank-you Lord for once again for reminding me that You are My God and I am Your Child.
I love you.
Amen.
