Hi All, finally after nearly two years in the writing, "Saint Thomas's Guide To Faith" , has gone to press! The book manuscript has been reviewed and meets my printers technical requirements. Next stage is to review the proof and if it's all alright I will approve it and it will be available for sale. Looks like that Date has been pushed out to the first week of March.
In celebration of this major step being achieved here is another snippit from the book.
"Abraham is called the father of faith, why do you think that is?Could it be that when God told him, “Pack your bags – your moving and I'll tell you where, when we get there”, Abram packed and moved 1?
Abram was 75 years old and even though Jehovah was know, he was not the God of Abrams family or town, the moon god was.2
God had given a promise to Abram 3 when He gave the command and to his credit Abram believed God, even though at 75 years old the fulfillment of that promise was unlikely.
Abram leaned on that promise even though God had not made it clear how Abram, at his age would have a child to inherit the land God was taking him to. Abrams human impatience led him into acting on that belief before it's time had been fulfilled and resulted in two instances some would say was a lapse of faith, but I do not see it that way because he was acting on what he believed.4
Abrams faith at 99 years old earned him a name change to Abraham which means “the father of many nations”. Now just how could this old man and his wife be the parents of many nations? None-the-less, Abraham believed and after his circumcision (a requirement of his Covenant with God) he and Sarah conceived the child Issac5 Abraham acted on what he believed, that is faith!
During the next week I want you to read and meditate on Hebrews 10, verse 19 through the end of the Book. This will be your assignment through the rest of this class, Not only do I want you to meditate on it but I want you pray the following prayer or something like it:
Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you in your royal court knowing that as a believer in your precious son and the finished work of the cross I can come before you not just as a plaintiff in a court case but as your child. And, as your child I know that you will grant in love any request of mine that will not hurt myself or others. My request is that I see and repent of any unbelief that I may have that is blocking me from receiving your grace and your wisdom in all I do and say. Grant me the wisdom required to understand and apply your words concerning the faith you have granted me."
