Psa 128:2 You will eat from the work of your hands; you will be happy, and it will go well for you.
Psa 128:3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children like olive shoots surrounding your table.
Psa 128:4 See how the man will be blessed who fears the LORD.
Psa 128:5 May the LORD bless you from Zion, and may you observe the prosperity of Jerusalem every day that you live!
Psa 128:6 And may you see your children's children! Peace be on Israel!
I Love this short little Psalm, it is such a happy ditty. It speaks of happiness, satisfaction with life, rich material blessings and all for the cost of fearing (morally reverent) the Lord and following his ways.
I think it was very much God who led me to this short little Psalm soon after a friend of mine and I had a brief (twitter brief) discussion regarding sinners reluctance to come to Jesus. I had stated to my friend that I think it isn't so much the cost as what the sinner “THINKS” is the cost.
I know in my own mind when I had stepped away from the cross in rebellion, the Cost of being “morally reverent” seemed far to high. I wanted to have sex with any one who would have me, (not many did), I wanted to do drugs and drink and be popular, (truth be told I was a legend in my own mind and no one else s). I wanted what I wanted, when I wanted it, and it didn't matter who got hurt in the process. The price for living this way was high. My wife was very unhappy and eventually she left taking the children and all our possessions. I was devastated, This is an outward price of sin. But what about the inward price?
What about that feeling of inadequacy? Don't tell me you feel whole and complete, I will not believe you and your actions tell a different story. Don't tell me you are satisfied with life and you have all you want, your actions say otherwise. Is your home a happy one, are all members pleased with you and themselves? Are you sure.
Many people are deceived into believing they have all they want without Christ, that's because they have only seen the “price” to pay for the admission into the Kingdom of God, they have not seen the VALUE in that price.
Whats the difference between price and value?
Simply stated, the price is what you pay up front, the value is it's worth.
Today I read an article about a woman who 30 years ago paid fifteen dollars for an old unfashionable ring she thought was costume jewelry, but she loved it and wore it everyday. She recently had it appraised for the fun of it and found it to be worth (value) nearly a half a million dollars. That fifteen dollars she spent may have put a crimp in her budget at the time she bought it but the value was more than worth it.
Coming to Christ is much like that. Make no mistake the price is High! Jesus wants everything, He wants your belief, He wants your heart, your mind, He wants your hurts, your fears, He wants your house, your car, your TV, your children, your spouse, HE WANTS IT ALL! The price is HIGH! But what's it's value? What is such a surrender worth.
Is peace of mind worth it? Because you will get it
Is having a happy heart, even in the most challenging situations worth it? Because you will get it.
Is losing most of your fear, worth it? Because you will get it.
Is having a personal, up close relationship with the King of the Universe, worth it? You will get that too!
I have heard it said that surrender is joining the winning side. Surrendering to Christ is just that, joining up with the team that knows how to really live both now and in the hereafter.
Come Join us. Enter the Kingdom of God, He Loves and wants you. He values you so much that he gave His only Son as ransom for your life because He values you that much.
Here is some really great news, while God does want it all, you can begin with a small down payment, just believe that Jesus is the promised son, that Jesus died for your sins as a stand in for you, and that God the Father raised Him from the dead. Confess your sins to Jesus and believe he has forgiven you and renewed your spirit, do this on your knees to Him and you will be on your way!
Read the Bible daily, Pray as often as you can, seek other believers and come under the authority of a good Bible believing and teaching church and the Love of God will fill you and bless you beyond your wildest dreams, there will be pain as all growth comes with pain but the end result will be more than worth it
It is true! Take it from a guy who once threw it away, but many years later, broke and broken returned to live under the umbrella of His Amazing Grace and UN-believable Love.
