Why do we struggle with faith in God? We have faith in so many other things yet to have faith in God seems strange. Why?
When have you ever doubted that a bridge will hold up your car and all the other cars on the road? When have you doubted that your home will still be there when you return from work? How often have you doubted that your employer will pay you for the work you agreed to do? And, what about the electricity in your home, how often do you turn a switch asking I wonder if it will work? These and hundreds more examples of faith can be found in our everyday lives. So what is the beef? Why do we have so much trouble trusting God?
Personally I think it's because we don't understand our relationship with God and what He has agreed to. God is not our waterboy or servant. We are His creation, His children, He is the authority, not us. He has given us contracts, called covenants or testaments, which outline how we are to relate to Him and He to us.
If you have not read my book, it is a free download and begins the discussion with a look at some of the major contracts God has offered us. Go download it here http://tencommandments4life.weebly.com/download.html
Something else to consider and I borrow this thought from C.S Lewis in his treatise "Mere Christianity",You cannot give anything to God since all, including you, is already "IN" Him. All belongs to Him, ALL!! And He is in you! and everyone else, even the "bad man". What causes us so much problem is the belief that we are separate from God and we fear that in giving ourselves to Him we will become robots, but that is not what God wants. He wants our co-operation not the slave relationship we fear. It is our personalities God values, it's our motives that He wants to change.
Back to faith.
Faith does not have to be blind. Now that may surprise you, but, the truth is we can see God in everything around us, we just have to open our eyes and hearts.
Consistency, individuality, beauty, power, it's all there for you to observe and see when you realize that all of nature speaks of God's great Love and Power.
Where our faith seems to come to a screeching halt is when it comes to believing that God Loves US. We fail to see that this whole wide wonderful world was created for us, we are the purpose He created this world and He gave it to us.
Luk_17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
My point is why do we struggle with having faith? We already have faith. It is faith in God we don't have. Yet there is far more evidence of God then there is for the things of man that we do have faith in .
